Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information SakhaSaarthi collects, how we use it, and the choices you and your parents have. We built SakhaSaarthi to work for students first, which means collecting only what's needed to run your study plan — never more.
Last updated: October 26, 2026
What we collect
When you use SakhaSaarthi, we collect:
- Profile information you provide during setup — board, class, subjects, and stream.
- Study activity — topics covered, practice attempts and scores, progress over time, and messages you send in chat.
- Basic device and usage information — device type, app version, and crash or performance logs, used to keep the app working.
- For parents using the parent portal: your name, email and mobile number, and the link between you and your child (made with a one-time code sent to the child's registered mobile number).
- For schools and coaching institutes using the partner portal: the staff logins they create, and the students they add (with the parent's name, mobile number and email).
How we use it
We use this information solely to run and improve SakhaSaarthi:
- To build and continuously adjust your personalised study plan.
- To generate relevant practice questions and answer your doubts in chat.
- To show your progress and report card to you, to your linked parent, and to the school or coaching you've selected.
- To fix bugs and improve the app's reliability and study recommendations.
- We do not use your data to serve ads, and we do not sell it, to anyone, ever.
Children's data & parental consent
Most SakhaSaarthi users are school students, many of whom are minors. Where required by India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), we obtain verifiable parental consent before processing a child's personal data, and we limit what we collect from children to what's needed to provide the study plan, practice, and chat features.
- A parent or guardian can request to review the personal data we hold about their child.
- A parent or guardian can request correction or deletion of their child's data at any time.
- We do not use a child's data for behavioural advertising or send it to any third party for their own marketing purposes.
- A parent can link to a child's account only with a one-time code sent to the child's registered mobile number.
Data sharing
We do not sell study data, to anyone. We share it only in these limited situations:
- With the school and coaching institutes you've selected in the app (or that your school added you to with your parent's details): they see your class, your study-plan progress, practice results, report card and whether you use the app, plus your parent's mobile number and email — never your own mobile number or email, your chat messages, or the feedback you send us. You or your parent can remove a school or coaching at any time in the app or the parent portal, and they stop seeing your data.
- With your linked parent, who sees your progress in the parent portal and a weekly email summary.
- With service providers who host our infrastructure or help us operate the app, bound by confidentiality obligations and only to the extent needed to provide the service.
- If required to comply with a valid legal request from a court or government authority.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, so your study plan and progress stay accurate. If you (or, for a minor, your parent or guardian) request deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or security purposes.
Security measures
We protect your data with industry-standard practices, including encrypting data in transit, restricting internal access to only what's needed to operate the app, and regularly reviewing our systems for vulnerabilities. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will notify affected users if a breach materially affects them.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you (or your parent/guardian, if you're a minor) have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent for processing, where consent is the basis for it — which may limit or end your ability to use SakhaSaarthi.
- Raise a complaint with us, or with the relevant data protection authority, about how your data is handled.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SakhaSaarthi's features change — for example, when payments launch. If we make a material change, we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app before it takes effect.
